The best place in the apartment is given to the window.

The floor steps up to meet it, dressed in fabric, with one long bolster. No television there, no cabinet — only room for a person.

Banded blinds cut the daylight into horizontal strips that lie across the floor. The strips travel, and the room changes several times a day.

Every house needs one place that is only for lying down.
