Project story
The classical can stay, as long as you take the weight out of it.
Mouldings, a fireplace, a buttoned sofa — the shapes are all still here, drained to white. Once the colour goes, the shapes stop pressing down on you.
Two hard things are left inside all that white: a wall of rough grey render, a stair of black steel. They remind you what year it is.
Nostalgia is not moving the past back in. It is keeping the few outlines you still like, and setting them again.
